2nd "Energy Union Future Leaders" Academy

The Energy Academy welcomes applications from students and professionals aged under/at 35, but will prioritise applicants under 30. The applicants will preferably be nationals of the Southeast European region; however, the process is open for applicants from countries from outside the region depending on the strength of their application.

With regard to students, we accept both undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is necessary however that the students are studying in an energy related discipline – e.g. international relations, law, economics, engineering to name a few. However, their focus should be on an energy matter broadly defined. The same also applies to professional applicants since evidence of relevance to the energy sector will be requested. Eligibility criteria are briefly summarised below:

●      University Student/Professional with proven and direct relevance to the energy sector

●      Aged not older than 35 (preference under 30)

●      Priority will be given to applicants who are nationals of SEE countries


Application documents

1. CV (we would encourage the use of the EUROPASS format)

2. A cover letter explaining your motivation to apply as well as your personal skills and qualities that you think could help you become an “energy leader of tomorrow”(500 words max)

3. One short essay answering one of the following questions:

a. In your opinion, what would be the potential benefits for SEE countries by joining the EU Energy Union? (500 words max)

b. In your opinion, which initiatives and projects can promote best energy diversification and energy security in the Region? (500 words max)


Application Process & Selection Criteria

●      Application submission deadline:  15th March 2019

●      Confirmation of successful applicants by: 18th March 2019

All applications will be thoroughly reviewed by the Energy Academy’s Selection Committee. The final selection of candidates and the respective announcements will have been made by 15th March 2019.   

The key selection criteria include:

●      basic understanding of fundamental pillars of energy markets and policy

●      proven academic/professional relevance to energy sector

●      demonstration of genuine interest in energy topics

●      potential of the candidate to become a future energy leader

●      willingness to affect the energy future of the SEE region

●      proficiency in English
